Act One - Goodbye My Love (We're Through) (1974)

Found this wonderful B Side whilst running through a pile of singles this morning - I always judged Act One on "Tom" but this shows the soulful side of them - worth looking out for.

GT Moore and The Reggae Guitars - "I'm Still Waiting"

Lost and Found indeed.  In 1974 I went to see Kokomo and Betty Wright (riding high at the time with "Where Is The Love?") at The Roundhouse in North London.  At the bottom of the bill was a band with one single to it's name.  They were wonderful - looking more hippy than hip, more psychedelic than soul, more rock than reggae - but they were GREAT.

Signed to Charisma which was then a small label
(pre Genesis success) with a diverse roster but mainly in the rock genre and mainly album releases.

This single (their first) is a cover of the Diana Ross classic written by Deke Richards.  It's a pop gem.  See what you think.  I found this on ebay for £5 - worth every penny - 36 years old and in mint condition.  There was an album which has varied reviews across the web - I think this is the highlight.

Charisma Single CB 236.

PS - The B Side " Judgement Day" is also a lost gem.

Oliver Sain - Bus Stop (1974)

A funk triumph, pre disco, dance favourite - first heard at the Tottenham Royal in 1974 - one of the tunes that led the way to changing the face of dance music.  A quick search says this is "sought after" and finds a few vinyl copies on ebay together with an album which I wasn't aware of.  Hear it here

Jim Capaldi - It's All Up To You (1974)

One of my all time favourite singles.  Jim Capaldi made some well respected music in his lifetime, solo, in Traffic and various other combos.  In my world he would never surpass this.  I raved about it in '74 (and do today which is a good test).  It didn't do well peaking at 27 in the charts of the day but it stood miles above it's contemporaries.  It's a soulful, big tune which should be covered (but i really don't want that do I?).  The performance is masterful.  I've yet to find it on CD.

A much under-rated gem.
